Natural and Technological Hazards & Ecology
The department of Natural and Technological Hazards and Ecology focuses on issues related to engineering seismology. The main fields of activity are seismic hazard assessment as well as geophysical investigation that are the basis for seismic regional zoning and urban microzoning. The end result of the complex investigation is defining the criteria and parameters for seismic design of civil engineering structures. The strong motion laboratory that is part of the department maintains the strong motion accelerograph network that consists of more than 100 instruments. Also, the department undertakes different activities in the field of ecology. The activities are realized through a number of scientific and applicative projects at local and international level.
